What is Dacorum Horizons?
Dacorum Horizons is an exciting new community project funded as part of the national Learning Revolution to encourage people into informal adult learning. Situated at 160 Marlowes, (the old Post Office) - it is open 10am - 4pm Monday - Friday delivering a huge range of informal 'taster' learning sessions to any member of the public who is over 19 and wishes to participate.

Informal adult learning is learning for its own intrinsic value. The term covers a huge range of activities: it could be a dance class, floristry or possibly caligraphy. It could be a guide to buying at auctions, music or making jewellery for yourself, martial arts or DIY. It could also be writing your CV, learning basic IT skills, managing your finances, receiving careers advise and guidance, or starting your own business. Dacorum Horizons has something to appeal to everyone, and best of all, IT'S ALL FREE, SO WHY NOT COME ALONG AND SEE WHAT WE HAVE FOR YOURSELF.

Informal learning can benefit individuals, businesses and the community as a whole. It contributes to health and wellbeing by building confidence, resilience and good social relationships. For some people informal learning may be part of their personal development plan and an important step towards further learning, qualifications and employment.

The shop is also playing host to THE Credit Union and a number of organisations who retail merchandise for charitable purposes so why not pop in for a little Christmas shopping, or possibly to MP Mike Penning's campaign to bring a bit of cheer to our armed forces and drop off a shoebox full of gifts for our soldiers serving overseas. The shop will also serve as a meeting point for a number of local groups, and as a focal point to deliver information about local organisations and clubs. If you are a member of an organisation and need a free room, call and let's see if we can help you.
